The challenge
People living with food-toxicity sensitivities — histamine intolerance, mould-illness recovery, salicylate or oxalate issues, coeliac disease and more — face a brutal daily problem: almost any meal could set back their recovery, and the information needed to judge it is scattered, technical, and hard to apply in the moment.
Mytoxi wanted to turn that guesswork into clarity — an app that could take a real meal, work out what's actually in it, and show each person how it lands against their specific sensitivities. Rigorous enough to trust, simple enough to use at every meal.
What we built
We built MealSafe end to end — a complex, data-driven app wrapped in a calm, genuinely easy experience.
• An AI chat interface where people describe their intolerances in plain language, and the app sets per-toxin sensitivity levels — personalised to their diagnoses and body weight.
• A database of 1,900+ foods mapped to calories, macronutrients, and 10 toxicity types.
• AI-powered photo capture that turns a snapshot of a meal into its individual ingredients, then calculates each ingredient's — and the meal's combined — toxicity exposure.
• A full meal history where any ingredient can be corrected and the totals recalculate instantly.
• A dashboard that tracks exposure against each person's goals over time — daily trends, top concerns, and a per-toxin breakdown.
The outcome
MealSafe turns an overwhelming daily judgement call into a few taps and a clear answer. It pairs an excellent user experience with a comprehensive, science-backed database — giving people with food-toxicity sensitivities a dependable way to understand what they're eating and protect their progress.
